The Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity is the oldest international dental organization. Alpha Omega (AO) also has the distinction of being the oldest international Jewish medical organization.

AO was founded at the University of Maryland School of Dental Medicine in 1907 by a group of dental students. During those times, Jewish students were not permitted to form social groups so the Maryland students formed AO to fight discrimination. Little did they know but their efforts have created a lasting imprint on AO members to this day. Discrimination is not as prevalent but it still occurs.

The AO international community is comprised of over 100 alumni and students chapters in ten countries. AO is an inclusive organization that welcomes people from all cultural backgrounds but our Vision, Mission, and Values are guided by our three tenets of professionalism, fraternalism, and commitment to Judaic values.

AO embraces the spirit of Tikkun Olam, or healing the world through charitable endeavors. As healers, our dentist and dental student members strive to make their communities better. AO strives to connect our members through our chapter meetings, international conventions, leadership seminars, and charitable projects.

In January 2015, AO, in partnership with Henry Schein Cares, is launching the AO/HSC Holocaust Survivors Oral Health Program in nine North American cities. Our members are volunteering to help treat this deserving population that has dental needs that are unmet. This program truly embraces the generous spirit of our members and the willingness to help others in need.

AADMD Club is established for the purpose of promoting the AADMD. The AADMD mission is to provide a forum for healthcare professionals who provide clinical care to people with intellectual & developmental disabilities (IDD) and improve the quality of healthcare for individuals with IDD. The Arizona College of Podiatric Medicine student chapter of the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine strives to promote education and the enhancement of knowledge in the field of podiatric sports medicine. Our goal is to provide students an opportunity to advance their understanding of evaluation, treatment, management, and prevention of lower extremity injuries in sports and fitness through educational seminars and workshops. We believe that through this mission, we will positively affect the public's awareness of podiatric sports medicine and its promise to ensure health and safety in the active individual.

SERVICE LEARNING

Runner’s Den

On the third Tuesday of every month, the club has an opportunity to evaluate injuries at a local running shoe store. Student doctors are able to evaluate sports injuries, gait abnormalities, and practice proper communication skills with patients. Students also have the opportunity to learn about different shoe types and proper running form. Sign-up is first come first serve basis.


Special Olympics

Every April and October, the club has the opportunity to work with athletes in the Special Olympic games that take place in the area. Students perform physical examinations of the foot as well as gait analysis. This provides a great learning experience for students while serving in the community.



Javelina Jundred

The event is a 100 mile endurance race through the foothills of McDowell Mountains. The club will set up a booth to assist runners with acute injuries. Strapping, taping, icing, and first aid are a few of the things that student doctors will perform at this event.

Guest Speakers/Workshops

The club leaders, along with advice from the faculty advisor (Dr. Jenkins), will discuss which professionals to invite to speak to students about certain podiatric sports medicine topics. Workshops and speakers are pending.


Rock N' Roll Marathon

We work closely with Dr. Udupa to provide post-race care for things such as blisters or common foot injuries.


Nerve Conduction Study: Guided by Ultrasound

Working with Dr. Tassone we do an ultrasound guided nerve conduction study for nerves commonly injured during sports related activities.

AZCOM Anesthesia Club was organized to promote education and information dissemination regarding the field of anesthesiology early in the medical education process. To meet club goals, second year medical students acting as club officers, along with faculty, assist with the planning and implementation of a variety of educational endeavors.

Members will have the opportunity to attend a variety of workshops and lectures. Examples of activities frequently include the guided use of Anisoft software, basic and advanced airway intubation workshops, epidural and central line placement workshops, and lectures from clinicians and field professionals. Members are also encouraged to enroll in the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) and the American Osteopathic College of Anesthesiologists (AOCA). Proclaiming that the process of communication is based upon mutual respect and acceptance, the purpose of the C.H.S. Student Council is to:

Unite the student body, faculty, and administration of C.H.S. in a continuous commitment to educational, social, and professional growth;
Provide a mechanism for governance of program-specific and College-wide student activities and functions;
Provide a vehicle for the exchange of ideas and perceptions concerning College-wide student issues;
Provide a forum for individual program student organizations to coordinate and collaborate;
Represent the C.H.S. student body to the media, other organizations, and government bodies;

We are a group of people who serve without any financial compensation. Many of us belong to Lions Clubs International, but you do not need to be a Lion to join us in our efforts. Based out of southern California we primarily do vision screenings with recycled eyeglasses in southern California and northern Mexico.

Typically we will do around 24 screenings a year, with the majority being in the United States. A few years back the World Health Organization recognized that uncorrected refractive error could be considered a functional form of blindness. If your need for eyeglasses is large enough that you cannot see to drive legally, to make a living, or see well enough up close perform tasks, you have a problem for yourself, your family and society as a whole. If you have no means to acquire eyeglasses to get by, you could be considered functionally blind.

California Lions Friends in Sight has as its primary goal, to address that functional form of blindness. We provide a free vision screening and if possible, free recycled eyeglasses to assist those in need. The recycled eyeglasses are matched as close as possible to the screening refraction to have the patient see better and have their eyes feel comfortable at the same time. However, at our screenings we also assess for ocular health concerns. Diabetic retinopathy, cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration are just a few of the common eye diseases diagnosed at the vision screenings. Patients identified with a medical and or surgical need, by our licensed volunteer optometrists or ophthalmologists, are informed of such and directed to seek care. Left untreated an increased risk for organic blindness is very real. The World Health Organization estimates that 40 million people in the world are blind and of that 80% is treatable or reversible. That translates into 32 million people that are in need of help.

California Lions Friends in Sight has as it secondary goal, the need to address that organic cause of blindness that is treatable/reversible. We work with various organizations and individuals to help those identified with a medical and or surgical need at our screenings get access to care. We recognize that science/medicine does have its limitations. In fact, 20% of the blindness in the world is not treatable. So 8 million people in the world, have as their only hope, the medical and technological research of future treatments and technologies for organic blindness.

California Lions Friends in Sight has as its third goal, the need to address the currently untreatable / irreversible causes of blindness. We understand we all only have so much time, money and ability, but we ask you to consider becoming a part of the California Lions Friends in Sight and to catch the vision.

It is the goal of IMPACT Club of Midwestern University to provide an

interdisciplinary education to student members, nonmembers, faculty, and community

participants about traumatic brain injuries in athletes and war veterans. To achieve

this goal, IMPACT Club will provide its members access to a monthly newsletter, guest

speakers, community service activities and projects intended to educate and raise

awareness of TBI. The club will complement student’s coursework in neurology,

pathology, and clinical medicine by creating a framework for students to identify a brain

injury and its subsequent symptomology. Current clinical and scientific findings of TBI

will be discussed regularly to prepare students for future patient encounters.

Kappa Epsilon was founded on May 13, 1921 in Iowa City, Iowa by Professor Zada M. Cooper. She mobilized female pharmacy students attending the universities of Minnesota, Nebraska, and Iowa to establish Kappa Epsilon at a time when women were a minority in the profession of pharmacy. To date, there are more than 25,000 members who have been initiated in Kappa Epsilon along with the establishment of 50 collegiate chapters and 21 Alumni chapters.

Nationally, Kappa Epsilon’s mission is to unite students in pharmacy and to promote women’s health issues such as breast cancer awareness as well as the Pharmacy Career Opportunity Recruitment Project (Pharm-CORP), aimed at high school students. NOSA as a club has two main goals. One is to enhance the delivery, effectiveness, and efficiency of eye and vision care services in communities with little or no eyecare presence​. The other is to increase the recruitment and retention of underrepresented minorities into the profession. We are a small club on campus, but we believe in serving those around us who have the greatest need, but the least access to the care that we're being trained to provide. Our chapter is involved in local vision screenings to benefit those in need in downtown Phoenix. Phi Delta Chi was founded on November 2nd, 1883 at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Since then it has expanded to over 90 chapters nationwide, making it one of the largest pharmacy fraternities in the country. As a professional organization, we organize events on campus to bring awareness to politics as they pertain to the queer community in medicine, as well as share events planned by our national chapter of Pride SVMC and Pride VMC. We offer individual mentorship from queer veterinarians for any student seeking guidance in navigating our profession as a queer person. Additionally, we are part of a nationwide network through which veterinarians share work opportunities, which can help you find an LGBTQ-friendly position to comfortably practice medicine while being your authentic self. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are more connected with our parent organization than ever, as the majority of their events have gone virtual.
